History and Evolution of Film
Early experiments used to be carried out in the late 1800s by Edweard Muybridge where they used to use photography to capture motions. Then came the silent era in 1900s starting from 1910 till 1920 where live music and sound effects used to accompany the film. Popular examples of this era was Charlie Champlin. However later from 1920s till 1930s came the sound era when the synchronised sound revolutionised the whole industry. Films with synchronised sound and dialogues were called "talkies". This was followed by the golden era of Hollywood as films became more sophisticated giving rise to genres like romantic comedies, epic dramas etc. This was also the time when the coloured films came into being
. Later after the 1960s, studio waves saw decline as private film makers started gaining grounds which led to movies like "The Godfather", "Bonnie and Clyde" etc. Since the 1970s, film making continued to evolve and change. The rise of digital effects, home video and the internet all had an impact on how films were consumed and made. Today we continue to see new genres, techniques, and style emerging from the blockbusters.
